Saturday will see the WTA main draw get underway. The day promises plenty of unmissable matches from the outset, both in the doubles and singles competitions.
Garbiñe Muguruza and Carla Suárez will open proceedings on the Manolo Santana Centre Court as they face the duo formed by Dabrowski and Rodionova, at half past twelve. After their game, Elina Svitolina faces a tough opener against the Belgian Yanina Wickmayer, although in their only previous clash, at Roland Garros last year, the Ukrainian won 6-2, 6-2.
The morning session will come to a close with a spectacular Italian derby: Sara Errani against the always dangerous Camila Giorgi.
In the afternoon session on centre court, Paula Badosa –a wildcard- will take on the French Alizé Cornet, the two have never met. It will also be the first clash between Sloane Stephens –the sixteenth seed – and the Brazilian Teliana Pereira.
The action gets underway at 10.30 in the morning on the other courts, with more important ties on the Arantxa Sánchez court and in Stadium 3.
The women’s qualifiers will continue in the Tennis Garden, with eight matches and one enticing prize: the main draw.
