The Mutua Charity Tie Break Tens joins the fight against domestic violence

David Ferrer, Fernando Verdasco, Mónica Puig and Lucas Pouille have added their names to the mini-tournament that will take place on May 4 in the Caja Mágica in Madrid.

The tournament will donate $100,000 towards charities that are working to help initiatives to combat domestic violence.

Many elite players are signing up for the the exciting new competition format that will be showcased in Spain for the first time in May and will not only challenge for the title but in doing so also contribute to this scourge on society and directly help the victims of domestic violence.

Mutua Madrileña will align itself in the social rejection of gender violence with its participation in the Charity Tie Break Tens in Madrid with a $100,000 donation towards charity work to tackle the issue with the support of victims of mistreatment, which is one of the areas in which the Fundación Mutua Madrileña has worked for several years.

Furthermore, today the “Mutua Charity Tie Break Tens Madrid, against gender violence” is proud to announce the participation of four more players:

Fernando Verdasco, who this season contested the final in Dubai against Andy Murray, expressed his pleasure in signing up for the charity event; “As a Madrileño, playing in the Caja Mágica in front of a home crowd is always special. To play in this event will be a wonderful experience and I’m sure the spectators will will enjoy watching us contest every point.’

Former world number three David Ferrer will also be on court for the “Mutua Charity Tie Break Tens Madrid, united against domestic violence”: “I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play in this event. To play in Spain is an opportunity that doesn’t come around that often and I think that this exciting competition format with tie-breaks of 10 points will be great fun for the crowd, so I ask everybody to come and watch in support of an important cause”.

Olympic gold medalist Mónica Puig and ATP world number 15 Lucas Pouille have added their star quality to a line-up that already contains Kei Nishikori, Feliciano López, Grigor Dimitrov, Garbiñe Muguruza, Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep.

In the course of the next two weeks the remaining six players who will complete the full line-up will be announced. The tournament, which will be held in the Caja Mágica ahead of the XVI Mutua Madrid Open, will be broadcast live on Teledeporte.

ATP players confirmed for March 23: Kei Nishikori, Feliciano López, Grigor Dimitrov, David Ferrer and Fernando Verdasco.

WTA players confirmed for March 23: Garbiñe Muguruza, Maria Sharapova, Simona Halep and Mónica Puig.

Format: Quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.

Prize Money: $200,000 for the champions, $100,000 to be donated to charity organizations working against gender violence.
