Dekton, Cosentino’s ultra-compact kitchen surface and the Mutua Madrid Open’s new sponsor, started in style at Spain’s biggest tennis tournament, with a spectacular cooking show using materials from the company, which will be on display at the tournament until 8 May. To open this unique “live cooking” space, a cooking show was held this morning with three-Michelin star chef, David Muñoz, and tennis players Milos Raonic, Feliciano López, Fernando Verdasco and Eugenie Bouchard.
Muñoz ran the show as he cooked up a variety of his famous culinary creations, inspired by the tournament. For their part, the players showed off their cooking skills and, in a relaxed atmosphere, helped the chef cook the dishes. The event, surely one of the weekend’s most surprising and interesting, was captured in a series of photos.
Also present at the event were Manolo Santana, Director of the Mutua Madrid Open; Gerard Tsobanian, the tournament’s President and CEO, Francisco Martínez-Cosentino, President of the Cosentino Group, the day after the latter was decorated with the Medal of Occupational Merit by the Spanish government.
The act served to open the series of culinary displays that Dekton has brought to the Caja Mágica, and that will allow all spectators at the Mutua Madrid Open to discover “the recipe for success.” Up until the end of the tournament next Sunday celebrated chefs including Andoni Luis Aduriz, Dani García and Diego Guerrero, among others, will display their skills with the assistance of various Spanish celebrities, bringing the world of sports and Michelin stars together under the Mutua Madrid Open brand.
The Dekton stand will also play host to an interesting social media-based initiative during the tournament, which will run in conjunction with the activities already underway on Facebook for the chance to win pairs of tickets to the tournament. In addition, every spectator who passes by the Dekton stand in Zone 2 will have the opportunity to take a Polaroid selfie, and by simply uploading it to their Twitter account with the Madrid Open hashtag #MMOPEN and a mention of Dekton participants will receive a pair of sunglasses and enter into a draw for a dinner at Madrid’s celebrated restaurant Tatel.
