Family Day is taking place during the first weekend of the Mutua Madrid Open, and as in previous editions, it is proving to be a resounding success. It has been great to get the little ones involved and also to give families the chance to enjoy such a high-calibre international sports event.
Since the doors opened, the atmosphere around the Caja Mágica has been spectacular, with the fans excited to enjoy it as much as possible. Families came from every corner of Spain, and their first stop was at the training courts. Why? Rafael Nadal started to train at 11:00. Not only were all the stands full, but there were also 2 or 3 rows of people watching from the walkways as the Manacor native trained, while he was cheered on by young and adult fans alike.
The commercial area was also a popular spot for families. Everyone wanted to get their hands on hats, caps and, of course, giant balls as Family Day souvenirs. Shopping aside, families also had time to enjoy from the rest of activities in the Caja Mágica. The youngest had the chance to play a tennis game at the Mutua Madrileña stand.
The parents also had time to enjoy themselves, especially those with toddlers. The available kindergarten inside the Caja Mágica gave them some time to wander freely around the premises. However, many of them preferred stay with the kids and have fun with them in the nursery.
It was a perfect start to Family Day, and we will be doing it all over again on Sunday at Mutua Madrid Open.
